LOCAL businesses across the Northern Rivers and Tenterfield Shire are being encouraged to have their say on the region’s future through the Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Survey, now open as part of the ProspER Northern Rivers initiative.<\/p>\n

ProspER Northern Rivers is a regional economic and environmental plan with Tenterfield Shire, looking ahead to 2040.<\/p>\n

The plan takes a whole-of-region approach to identify opportunities for sustainable growth, wellbeing and prosperity, led by business and industry in collaboration with government and community partners.<\/p>\n

The initiative builds on the Northern Rivers NSW Brand, a regional partnership representing communities from Tweed in the north to Grafton in the south, Casino and Kyogle in the west and east to the coast through Lismore, Ballina and Byron.<\/p>\n

It aims to tell a shared story about the region’s values, creativity and connection to community while driving economic opportunity.<\/p>\n

“This is the first region-wide business retention and expansion survey to be undertaken, so it’s exciting to know that we will have a collective business voice highlighting challenges and opportunities that can be explored to help enterprise thrive specifically in this region,” Business NSW Regional Director Jane Laverty said.<\/p>\n

“In saying that, we see it as more than a survey, it’s a chance for business leaders across our region to influence real change.”<\/p>\n

The survey asks business owners and operators from the Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Ballina Shire, Byron Shire, Tweed Shire and Tenterfield Shire to share their experiences and priorities for the future.<\/p>\n

“We want to hear what’s working, what’s not and what’s needed to support businesses to grow, adapt and remain competitive in an evolving regional and global landscape,” Laverty said.<\/p>\n

Business NSW said insights gathered through the survey would help shape strategy, investment and funding decisions for the next 15 years, ensuring the needs and voices of local businesses are heard at a regional level.<\/p>\n

ProspER Northern Rivers is proudly funded by the NSW government, as an election commitment by Minister for the North Coast Janelle Saffin, who is also minister for small business and minister for recovery.<\/p>\n

It is being developed by Business NSW in partnership with Southern Cross University and the Northern Rivers NSW Brand, with support from local councils and regional partners.<\/p>\n
