Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is one of our best and a highly respected member in our unit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Donna Lamont, Karen Rea and Amy Marks from the Casino unit also received 10-year medals in recognition of their efforts through floods and bushfires.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Olive from the nearby Kyogle unit and Peter Tarran of Dorrigo were both recognised for 40 years of service.<\/p>\n<p>Local SES members went on to join more than 150 volunteers from across the state put their life-saving skills to the test at the inaugural Flood Rescue Challenge in Sydney last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year alone, NSW SES members have responded to more than 1100 flood rescues,&#8221; assistant commissioner Dean Storey said<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the combat agency for flood rescue in NSW, our members are already some of the most highly trained operators in the country, and this event is about taking that expertise even further.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BALLINA State Emergency Service training coordinator Graham Cork received a 10-year long service medal at the North Eastern Zone Awards ceremony at Lismore.
