FULL Fields will compete across Olympic, sprint and teams’ events with about 1000 people set to push themselves to the limit at the Kingscliff Triathlon.<\/p>\n

The event is set down for Sunday, November 16 with triathlon clubs and gym groups from across NSW and south-east Queensland competing.<\/p>\n

The Olympic distance comprises a 1500m swim, 40km ride and 10km run and forms part of the North Coast Triathlon Series.<\/p>\n

Every athlete who crosses the line will receive a sustainable medal, made from recycled materials that prevent two plastic bottles from entering the ocean.<\/p>\n

Kids play a big part in the triathlon with multiple events for the family to enter.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

There is also an aqua bike division which takes out the run leg.<\/p>\n

The event is run by NX Sports who are responsible for running triathlons and racing events around the country.<\/p>\n

NX sports director Mike Crawley said the Kingscliff event, which is now held twice a year, has been the biggest tourism generator in town for a decade.<\/p>\n

“We’ve become a destination sport and it’s all about offering a well-run event at an amazing location,” he said. ”<\/p>\n

“Our long-running events at places like Byron Bay and Kingscliff have built a lot of prestige and run with the maximum number of competitors possible.<\/p>\n

“We get a lot of professional triathletes, but we always focus on kids and people who are competing to achieve a personal goal.”<\/p>\n

The Discover Tri is back again, with the family-friendly distance designed for both kids and parents to enjoy together.<\/p>\n

Kids can compete by themselves or alongside a guardian in a triathlon (swim, ride and run) or aquathlon (swim, run).<\/p>\n

The event is supported by the Rotary Club at Banora Tweed, Pottsville Men’s Shed with Cudgen Surf Lifesaving Club, junior rugby league, schools, scouts and Northern Rivers triathlon club among the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
