{"id":112995,"date":"2026-01-18T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=112995"},"modified":"2026-01-14T20:21:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T09:21:12","slug":"the-new-small-shop-making-a-big-difference-to-lismore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/the-new-small-shop-making-a-big-difference-to-lismore\/","title":{"rendered":"The new small shop making a big difference to Lismore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW homewares and gift shop has opened on the site of the former Southern Cross Credit Union, which had been vacant since the 2022 floods.<\/p>\n<p>Lark Collective \u2013 named after its location on Woodlark Street \u2013 is a passion project for born-and-bred Lismore local Leisa Callaghan.<\/p>\n<p>Callaghan previously worked in finance and accounting, giving her strong business skills.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I thought that Lismore needed a bit more of a boost and I wanted to do something I was interested in,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>The shop offers a variety of products, including baby clothes, throws, cushions, candles, recipe books, diaries, hats and handbags. Products by Red Tractor Designs have proven particularly popular, along with items featuring chickens and dogs, such as socks and tea towels.<\/p>\n<p>Other brands include Samantha Abbott Jewellery, Lewin Naturopathy Teas, Kove &amp; Co., Toshi and Little Dutch Australia.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121329\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121329\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-121329\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/01\/LarkCollectiveinLism_72166.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-121329\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lark Collective in Lismore. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m trying to stock products I like, and hopefully other people do as well,&#8221; Callaghan said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I try to stock Australian-made or designed products, but it&#8217;s not always possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Callaghan said the community response had been overwhelmingly positive, with many people learning about the shop through word of mouth and a surprising number of repeat customers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They come in and say they&#8217;re happy to see a new shop,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have an access ramp here as it&#8217;s off the ground a bit so people with disabilities can get into the shop.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I just think we need some more shops to get people back into town and hopefully some more businesses will follow.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW homewares and gift shop has opened on the site of the former Southern Cross Credit Union, which had been vacant since the 2022 floods.
