VINTAGE bikes from across Australia will be on display when the North Coast Classic Motorcycle Show and Swap returns to the Alstonville Showground this Sunday, February 15.<\/p>\n
Now in its sixth year, the event is the only classic motorcycle show and swap meet in the region, with all funds raised supporting the Ballina Hospital Auxiliary.<\/p>\n
The show offers motorcycle enthusiasts the chance to browse rare bikes, unique parts and hard-to-find memorabilia, with visitors expected to travel from around New South Wales and south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n
Last year’s event raised $14,000 for the auxiliary, and organisers are hoping to build on that success as the show continues to grow in popularity.<\/p>\n
“The best thing is that it’s run with the assistance of several local motorcycle groups,” event organiser Col McAndrew said.<\/p>\n
“A lot of people ride to the event from as far north as the Sunshine Coast.<\/p>\n
“We’re also lucky the show runs undercover with the support of the Alstonville Show Society.”<\/p>\n
The event is also supported by the North Coast Classic and Customs Club and the Ballina Men’s Shed, while the Far North Coast Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club will also be involved this year.<\/p>\n
Cob Smith, one of the largest swap traders in Australia, attends the event annually and will be present again.<\/p>\n
“The event is getting bigger each year and brings an economic boost to the region,” McAndrew said.<\/p>\n
“The show celebrates classic bikes and community spirit.”<\/p>\n
The Ballina Men’s Shed will again provide trophies to be awarded on the day, with entry by gold coin donation.<\/p>\n
