{"id":113669,"date":"2026-02-22T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/?p=113669"},"modified":"2026-02-18T21:09:55","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T10:09:55","slug":"elements-of-byron-celebrates-a-decade-of-evolution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/tweedcoasttimes\/news\/elements-of-byron-celebrates-a-decade-of-evolution\/","title":{"rendered":"Elements of Byron celebrates a decade of evolution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ELEMENTS of Byron resort is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this month, with 10 team members who have been there since the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>The resort, which sits amidst dunes, rainforest and wetland on Belongil Beach, was designed around the four natural elements \u2013 earth, air, fire and water.<\/p>\n<p>It was a labour of love for its owners, BRW rich lister Brian Flannery and his wife Peggy, who sought to create a resort that left as little impact on the environment as possible.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/02\/AnaerialviewofElemen_62822.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"483\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">An aerial view of Elements of Byron. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The couple also funded the Byron Bay Solar Train linking the North Beach area with town through the not-for-profit Byron Bay Railroad Company.<\/p>\n<p>Since opening in 2016, the resort has evolved significantly. General manager Michael Skinner said the property debuted with 103 villas before adding a further 99 villas just 18 months later, along with new facilities including an adults-only pool.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since then it has had many different phases,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We have had a lot of conference activity in the years prior to COVID, then the conference business changed a bit, from large groups down to more boutique style workshops and corporate retreats.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/02\/PeopledoingyogaatEle_67174.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"417\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Morning yoga at Elements of Byron. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, the resort has hosted major events such as the Wellness Tourism Summit and the North Coast Tourism Symposium and Awards.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, the focus has shifted further towards wellness. Osprey Spa has evolved from offering shorter, massage-focused treatments to delivering immersive, holistic rituals designed to restore both body and mind.<\/p>\n<p>Dining has also undergone a transformation, moving from internationally-inspired menus to a nature-led philosophy under executive chef Craig Robertson. At the resort&#8217;s signature restaurant, Azure Bar &amp; Grill, the emphasis is now firmly on local produce and foraged ingredients.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/02\/TheOspreySpaatElemen_69450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"385\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Osprey Spa at Elements of Byron.
