LOCAL women will come together for a series of International Women’s Day events across the Byron Shire over coming weeks.<\/p>\n
The Byron Bay Chamber of Commerce will host Byron’s Badass Women of Business at Elements of Byron on Friday 6 March, bringing together women in business for facilitated discussion tables led by a lineup of women shaping business across the region.<\/p>\n
Table hosts include Louise Bannister, co-founder of Frankie Magazine and chief creative officer at Fireside Communications; Marissa Treichel, founder of 1980s dance group The Cassettes; and Dr Dionne Payn, founder and CEO of High Impact Property Investments and Homes 4 Women.<\/p>\n
Discussions will cover timely and relevant topics such as artificial intelligence, navigating self-doubt, building wealth, leading authentically, pivoting in times of change and the realities of running creative and experience-led businesses in a destination town.<\/p>\n
The Northern Rivers Community Foundation’s Women’s Giving Circle IWD event, which is sponsored by Southern Cross University, will take place at Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club on Thursday 12 March.<\/p>\n
Lynda Wiles, from Support for New Mums, will share information about the project that funding the organisation received from a previous event will support.<\/p>\n
Local comedian Mandy Nolan will host the SHIFT Project’s annual International Women’s Day luncheon at Crystalbrook Byron Bay on Friday 13 March.<\/p>\n
Titled Give to Gain: Celebrating the Power of Women, the annual fundraiser will feature a three-course shared lunch and complimentary bubbles on arrival. Keynote speaker Jules Allen, a social scientist, counsellor and foster carer who has appeared on Australian Story and spoken at TEDx Melbourne, will share her story at the event.<\/p>\n
Held on March 8, IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also serves as a call to action for accelerating gender equality, highlighting issues like gender pay gaps, gender-based violence and underrepresentation in leadership roles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
