SOUTHERN Cross University has surged 147 places in global nursing rankings, now sitting within the top 151 to 225 universities worldwide in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject.<\/p>\n
The result comes as Australia faces a projected shortfall of more than 70,000 nurses by 2035, increasing pressure on universities to train more graduates and strengthen research capacity.<\/p>\n
The rankings measure academic reputation, employer reputation, research impact and international collaboration.<\/p>\n
Southern Cross said strong employment outcomes for graduates and growing partnerships with health providers had contributed to the rise.<\/p>\n
Deputy vice-chancellor academic Professor Julie Jomeen said the result reflected the university\u2019s focus on preparing students for the workforce.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis strong performance highlights the University\u2019s focus on industry ready graduates who are highly regarded by healthcare employers in Australia and internationally,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The university has expanded clinical education links in recent years, including participation in the Academic Health Alliance at the Tweed Valley Hospital alongside other tertiary providers and the Northern NSW Local Health District.<\/p>\n
Students also take part in international placements, including programs in India supported by federal mobility grants.<\/p>\n
