Concerns extend beyond illegal devices, with residents pointing to how even legal e-bikes are being ridden at speed in pedestrian areas.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2301\" data-end=\"2645\">Laws vary between states, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsw.gov.au\/driving-boating-and-transport\/bikes-e-bikes-e-scooters\/riding-bikes-electric-bikes-powered-devices?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">in New South Wales adults are generally not permitted to ride on footpaths<\/a> unless supervising a child, while riders on shared paths must give way to pedestrians.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2301\" data-end=\"2645\">Legal e-bikes are also limited to pedal-assist with motor support cutting out at 25km\/h, with strict limits on motor power under national standards.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2647\" data-end=\"2778\">Online debate points to a national issue, with no clear agreement on who the worst offenders are, as blame shifts between groups.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1625\">One commenter wrote, \u201cWith 2 full scale wars going on right now in the world. Australia has its sights set on the kids and their ebikes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1627\" data-end=\"1816\">Another said, \u201cAnyone also interested in banning boomers on electric bikes that ride at 40 km \u2026 Who also don\u2019t believe they need to ring their bells to warn pedestrians in front of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1818\" data-end=\"2098\">A parent wrote, \u201cIt\u2019s scary the amount of times my kids have nearly been hit. It\u2019s not hard to ring a bell and warn people you\u2019re coming through.
