Photo: Supplied.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our nurses and midwives do an incredible job of looking after those in our communities who are most vulnerable and in need of care and support,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Healing Heart award is an opportunity to thank them for their dedication and the contribution they make to the community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Held annually, the awards recognise the work of nurses and midwives across hospitals and health services throughout Northern NSW.<\/p>\n<p>Last year&#8217;s joint recipients were Sarah Hendrikse from BreastScreen NSW&#8217;s Tweed Heads clinic and Nigel Watts from the intensive care unit at Lismore Base Hospital.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_125189\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-125189\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-125189\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/05\/SarahHendrikse-Heali_27025.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-125189\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">2025 Healing Heart Award joint winner Sarah Hendrikse at the BreastScreen NSW clinic at Tweed Heads.
