Photo: Ashi Hilmer.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Low tide exposed the sand at Snapper Rocks, forming a packed beach as crowds streamed in from both sides of the NSW\u2013Queensland border.<\/p>\n<p>Gilmore returned to the break where she won as a 17-year-old wildcard in 2005 to claim her seventh title.<\/p>\n<p>The final saw Gilmore take on 21-year-old Brazilian Luana Silva, who entered the decider after defeating American Sawyer Lindblad.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_125305\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-125305\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-125305\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/05\/Gilmorewtrophy_82511.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-125305\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stephanie Gilmore holding the Gold Coast Pro 2026 trophy. Photo: Ashi Hilmer.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gilmore delivered the defining moment of the heat with less than eight minutes remaining, posting a 9.50, the highest single-wave score of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Silva responded with powerful vertical turns to close the gap, but Gilmore held on to win 17.33 to 14.07.<\/p>\n<p>Gilmore said a deep sense of gratitude during competition helped ground her in the final.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think for me, there&#8217;s a whole lot of gratitude that I am able to feel when I&#8217;m competing,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_125306\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-125306\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-125306\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/05\/Ewingwtrophy_83439.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-125306\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ethan Ewing holding the Gold Coast Pro 2026 trophy. Photo: Ashi Hilmer.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I could imagine being on a tennis court or a golf course or in the NBA would be way harder to find some kind of spiritual clarity, whereas in surfing, we&#8217;re very lucky that we&#8217;re in the ocean and it&#8217;s a place where we all find some kind of solace no matter whether we&#8217;re competing or free surfing or whatever.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s final, Ethan Ewing took on Japan&#8217;s Connor O&#8217;Leary.<\/p>\n<p>Ewing set the tone early with an 8.33, combining compact turns, strong rail work and floaters to control the heat.<\/p>\n<p>He carried that momentum through the final to secure the title after a strong run through the elimination rounds, winning 14.56 to 14.17.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_125308\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-125308\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-125308\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/05\/Ewingsurfcloseup_84916.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-125308\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ethan Ewing unloading with a powerful rail turn.
