The sun is shining for the Surf Coast’s newest senior sporting club, with a strong crowd turning out to launch its inaugural football and netball season.
The Surf Coast Suns Football Netball Club held its formal launch at The Sands Torquay on Saturday, with more than 120 people in attendance.

Storytelling, entertainment and a jumper presentation marked the occasion, as excitement builds ahead of the club’s first campaign in the Bellarine Football Netball League.
Football president Jay Williams said he was proud of how far the club had come ahead of its senior debut.

“There’s a lot of emotion behind what this club means to us, and it was really important to let those in the room know about all the hard work that has gone in over a long period of time.
“Step by step, we’ve built this up, and now Round 1 is coming and we are so excited.
“It’s coming around fast and we are so proud of how we are shaping up.”

The club also took part in its first senior football and netball hitout this past weekend against Rokewood.
Williams said the Suns were looking “very strong” ahead of their Round 1 clash with Torquay on 4 April.
