SHERRIDON Homes will establish a new Geelong headquarters as part of a more than $10m investment in regional Victoria, with construction on the purpose-built office set to begin soon.
The new red-brick commercial building, inspired by Geelong’s industrial heritage, will provide a permanent base for the builder’s employees and clients as the company expands across one of Victoria’s fastest-growing regional markets.
The expansion comes as housing demand across regional Victoria continues to grow, driven by population growth and increasing numbers of people choosing regional centres for affordability and lifestyle.
The Victorian government forecasts regional Victoria’s population will grow by more than one million people by 2051, with Geelong among the key growth corridors expected to experience sustained demand for new housing.
Sherridon Homes regional managing director Natalie King said the growth was being reflected in the company’s own sales, which had increased by more than 150 per cent year-on-year.
“We’re seeing strong demand from first-home buyers looking for affordability, but also from downsizers and families seeking a tree or sea change without compromising on amenity. Regional centres now offer incredible lifestyle opportunities, from food and wine to major cultural events and infrastructure investment, and buyers are recognising that,” King said.
“The federal government’s First Home Buyer Guarantee has also contributed to increased housing activity throughout regional Victoria, particularly among younger buyers entering the market.”
King said the investment reflected the company’s long-term commitment to regional Victoria and the importance of having permanent local teams.
“Sherridon Homes has directly created more than 100 regional jobs and supports thousands of local trades and suppliers across Victoria through its construction pipeline,” she said.
“It’s really important that we have local teams who are ingrained in the local communities in which we’re building.”
The Geelong office is one of three major developments included in the investment program.
In Shepparton, the company has secured a 2,500sqm office on High Street to serve as its Northern Victoria headquarters after outgrowing its previous premises.
Construction is also under way on a new Warragul office development that will include more than 600sqm of office space and support expanding operations across Gippsland, alongside three planned display homes.
King said the builder was also responding to changing housing needs across regional communities.
“One of our strengths is the breadth of products we can offer. From our Essence range, which is designed to maximise value on smaller lots, through to larger homes for 16m frontages and our Homestead Collection for acreage lifestyles, we’re able to support a wide range of buyers and housing needs across regional communities,” King said.
She said further expansion was planned.
“With a number of new products launching and further geographic expansion planned, we’re continuing to invest in the markets where we see the strongest long-term demand,” King said.
“The continued investment reflects Sherridon Homes’ ambition to further strengthen its position as one of Victoria’s fastest-growing regional home builders, while maintaining a genuine connection to the communities we support.”
