Discover the Future of Inclusive Living in Ballarat
WHEN it comes to feeling at home, everyone deserves a place that supports independence, comfort and community.
That’s the idea behind Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), and this month, Guardian Living and Melba Support Services are inviting the Ballarat community to learn more.
On Friday 21 November, locals are invited to join a special community open day at Guardian Living’s brand-new SDA home in Ballarat. It’s a chance to take a look inside a modern, purpose-built home designed for people with disability, and to discover how SDA can transform lives.

Throughout the day, four interactive information sessions will unpack everything families, carers, support coordinators and participants need to know about SDA, from the basics of eligibility and design, to what real independence looks like in practice. Each session focuses on a different stage of the SDA journey, giving attendees the chance to learn, ask questions and hear stories from people who’ve already made the move.
“This event is about more than bricks and mortar,” says Stephen Vick, CEO at Guardian Living.
“It’s about giving people the tools, confidence and understanding to make informed decisions about where and how they live, and ensuring those decisions support independence, dignity and community connection.”
The sessions include Understanding SDA – What It Is and How It Works; Making the Move – Preparing for Independence and Peace of Mind; Living Your Best Life with Quality Support; and A New Way to Live – From Legacy Housing to Modern SDA. Together, they’ll explore practical steps for transitioning into SDA, building a supportive network and finding the right environment to thrive.

Guests will also enjoy light catering, community connection and the chance to win a $100 prize just for attending. The event is free, fully accessible and open to anyone who wants to understand more about how SDA can support a better quality of life.
The open day is part of Guardian Living’s commitment to create SDA that empowers people with disability to live with confidence, independence and dignity.
So, whether you’re new to SDA, supporting someone exploring their options or simply curious about what accessible housing looks like today, this is your chance to connect, learn and celebrate what’s possible.
