FORTITUDE Legal, a boutique law firm offering top notch legal services in personal injury claims, opened its doors to regional Victorians in 2017.

With co-directors Katalin Blond, Cameron Cowan, Fleur Jackson and Tom Burgoyne all having practised in Senior roles in national law firms, their decision to breakaway and set up Fortitude Legal was prompted by their desire to provide a more personalised service to injured people in the regional areas where they live and work.

All of the Fortitude Legal team live in the regional areas where they practice and understand the importance of being connected to their local communities whether it be through local sporting clubs, or sponsoring community events.

Offices in Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Maryborough provide ease of access to their local clients.

In a credit to their efforts, in less than two years Fortitude Legal was recognised for outstanding service to the legal community being named Boutique Law Firm of the Year at the Law Institute of Victoria’s 15th Annual Law Awards in 2019.

The Victorian Legal Awards are the most prestigious legal awards program in the State, celebrating the best of the best and publicly recognising those who demonstrate excellence in legal practice.

In an additional acknowledgement, co-founder and principal lawyer Tom Burgoyne was awarded the Rogers Legal Writing Award for his feature article Cyclist Beware published in the Law Institute Journal.

His article journaled the legal fight of Drysdale man, Rory Wilson, to highlight an anomaly in the law and seek justice following a devastating cycling accident in 2014. Tom was also recognised as Regional Lawyer of the Year in 2018.

The firm has adopted innovative initiatives to overcome the geographical challenges thrown up by regional practice, not limited to distance and isolation.

Paperless offices, cloud-based systems and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies provide convenient options for communication with their clients and flexibility for their teams, and have positioned Fortitude Legal as a leader in their field.

Providing advice and assistance in the areas of transport accidents, workers compensation and public liability, Fortitude Legal pride themselves on providing the best advice explained simply.

“Having opened our doors only two years ago, bringing to life our vision to provide exceptional legal services to regional Victoria, we are both humbled and thrilled to have had our firm recognised by the Law Institute and excited at what lies ahead,” said co-founder and managing director Katalin Blond.
