HER Majesty’s Theatre is about to be transformed into an icy kingdom for BLOC Music Theatre’s production of Disney’s Frozen.
The amateur theatre company is preparing to stage the musical based on the animated movie phenomenon from 21 to 31 May.
Leading the cast are Zenaye Mckee as Elsa and Amalee Eden as Anna, who both bring fond childhood memories of seeing the Frozen fim, and singing along to it, to the production.
Mckee has performed since the age of three and has trained extensively in singing and dancing. Her aim is to bring emotional depth to the role of Elsa.
“Getting to play the role of Elsa is a dream come true and I cannot wait to bring the magic to the stage,” she said.
Eden has also been immersed in performing arts from a very young age, and previously appeared in BLOC’s RENT and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

“I’ve been singing along to the songs from Frozen for as long as I can remember,” Eden said.
“To now step into Anna’s shoes is truly a dream come true.”
Directed by Elise Heenan, the production promises a visually stunning experience for local audiences with 12 shows set to be staged at family-friendly times.
“The cast is brimming with the best of Ballarat’s local talent,” Heenan said.
“This show is going to be really special, a powerful story of sisterhood with beautiful moments of strength and love. It’s truly one not to miss.
“There is so much magic. It’s a real feast for the senses. From snow to reindeer, castles and icy mountains, every detail has been carefully crafted to create a world of wonder.”
The show’s executive producer Jordan Sullivan said alongside performers, a big team of volunteers is working behind the scenes.
“There are up to 200 people involved at any one time,” he said.
“This is a truly local production, powered by a volunteer army contributing thousands of hours to bring this show to life.”
