LOCAL artist Tegan Crosbie will be opening her workshop this Saturday for a Mother’s Day earring making event.

The three-hour session will provide an opportunity for participants to design and make two to three pairs of resin earrings.

“Initially I wanted a pair of earrings that were unique, funky and lightweight because I couldn’t find any,” said Crosbie.

“I discovered shrinky dink plastic and the process is really fun, so I started making them and posting videos online.

“Lots of people were like ‘this is really cool; can you show us how to do it?'”

All equipment including UV resin, UV curing stations, drill, pliers, heat guns, markers, jewellery findings and stencils will be provided. “I think I’ve done a lot of the hard work, so I’ve made the mistakes, I’ve had the devastating moments where everything breaks and it’s disappointing,” said Crosbie.

“I know how to do it in a way that will set you up to be able to do it successfully.”

Crosbie said the workshop will provide a great opportunity to relax and get creative.

“People can just sit, do something creative with other likeminded people, and it’s a moment where they can have some time to themselves or with their mum,” she said.

“Sometimes mums don’t just want slippers or some sort of appliance, they want to do an activity and spend some quality time with their loved one.”

The event will be held at the Crosbie’s studio, Workshoppery in Barkly Square, on Saturday 11 May from 1.30pm.

There will be more sessions on throughout the year. To book a spot, visit Crosbie’s website.

Participants will get to make between two and three pairs of earrings.
