Lifelong memories and friendships are assured at Billabong Ranch's school holiday camps.

YOUNG horse lovers and budding adventurers can enjoy an idyllic camp experience at Billabong Ranch this school holidays.

Located just outside the beautiful township of Echuca on a 390-acre property, Billabong Ranch runs week-long horse riding and adventure activity camps for children aged 10 to 17 years.

There are many activities for kids and teenagers to enjoy.

Participants stay, eat, play and learn for five days and six nights at the camp which incorporates aspects of horse husbandry, practical demonstrations and adventure activities in a country environment.

These camps have been running for more than 15 years with many participants volunteering and then later working at Billabong Ranch.

No riding experience is necessary and the camps have a capacity for 100 children to attend over the two weeks.

Billabong Ranch’s Kerri Acquisto said it was a great opportunity for young people to get out into the country and enjoy some farm time with a variety of animals, while also experiencing a huge range of adventure activities.

“Lifelong friendships are forged whilst getting outdoors and active,” she said.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for your children to enjoy a week away in a farm atmosphere with a group of like-minded children, learning a range of horsemanship skills and building fond memories they will remember for life.”

Some of the horse-related activities include grooming and saddling, trail and river rides, flat work, dressage and show jumping instruction, plaiting and show preparation.

Among the many other fun activities are the commando course, archery, swimming pool, mini golf, pedal boats, yabbying, bush first aid, bungee trampolines, low ropes course, campfire night, big screen movies, disco and much more.

Billabong Ranch prides itself on having experienced staff who cater to all aspects of horse riding according to each child’s abilities and needs.

Young horse lovers will adore the camp but no previous riding experience is required to attend.

The camp is fully supervised and the senior staff are qualified instructors and trail guides who also compete successfully in a variety of disciplines.

Upon completion of the week-long camp, each child receives a certificate of accomplishment as a memento.

Billabong Ranch has a SunSmart policy in accordance with the Australian Camping Association recommendations.

The first camp runs from June 27 to July 3 and the second from July 4 to July 10. The cost is $795 per child.
