April 20, 2022 BY

Fantastic, fanciful, fabulous facial hear will go on show in late May with categories for all types.

HAVE a show-worthy mo? Put it to good use as the Ballarat Beard & Stache Competition is on again.

Judged on 28 May, the annual event celebrates beards and moustaches of all kinds, with several categories for those with whimsical whiskers. With more than $1000 in prizes the Beard & Stache Competition is a highlight of the Ballarat Heritage Festival program

Those with a passion for beards and moustache come from far and wide to show off their style, from locals to interstate facial hair enthusiasts.

Punters are invited to attend the competition in person at Hop Temple for the first time in two years.

This iconic venue, tucked down a laneway in the heart of Ballarat, is one of the city’s most beautiful buildings in one of the most vibrant precincts.

Live entertainment and the venue’s trademark smoked meats and extensive beverage line-up will make for a fun and delicious afternoon.

Categories include Full Beard Natural (20cm to infinity), Full Beard Natural (10cm to 20cm), Verdi (styled, 10cm and under), Moustache and Partial Beard.

There will also be a Just for Fun (freestyle) category for ladies, gentleman and children who want to display their own creativity. This can entail any kind of medium, think faux facial hair with flair.

“You don’t have to have a beard, or a big moustache, to come along,” said organiser Brayden Dorney.

“This is just a day of appreciation for facial hair whatever that may be.

“We’re really looking forward to getting together for good food, good beer and good beards.” Ballarat Beard & Stache Competition.”

The event grows on Saturday, 28 May from 12pm at Hop Temple.
