CALLING all Backyard Blitz fans… Celebrity landscape gardener and television presenter Jamie Durie is on his way to Lucas.

As part of the next Lucas Display Village Great Big Challenge day on Sunday, 11 September, Durie will be on site as Chatham Homes’ new ambassador and a passionate environmental sustainability advocate.

He’ll lead personal tours of an 8.2-star energy-rated Chatham display home at 2.45pm, 3.15pm and 3.45pm, will be in conversation with Power FM’s Julia Zass at 1.45pm, and will snap some photos with visitors between 2pm and 2.30pm.

“I was hugging trees long before climate change and sustainability were on the global radar, and I know there’s never been a more important time to address a more sustainable way to live and build our homes,” he said.

“It’s so refreshing to find a builder who’s as passionate as I am about all things green. The team at Chatham is doing an incredible job using the latest environmental technology and best quality practices to not only tread more lightly on the environment, but to demystify the art of green building.

“Together, we will challenge the industry and raise awareness for sustainable practices in home building for consumers. It’s our shared goal that more Australian builders follow these green initiatives to build a better future for Australia.”

Three personal tours through the 8.2-star energy-rated Chatham display home at Lucas Estate will be led by Jamie Durie.

Those who come along to meet Durie will also have the chance to win a landscape garden designed by him.

The Great Big Tim’s Toastie Challenge will be a drawcard, running from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

Former MasterChef contestant and Ballarat Toastie Tsar, Tim Bone, will be put to the test, cooking up as many toasties as he can for members of the public for free within the hour.

Families can explore more than 30 display homes between 12pm to 5pm, and enjoy the roving talents of band Ballahornication, stilt walkers, and circus performer Sam Starr.

Kids can get their faces painted, families can grab a feed at a food truck, play an outdoor game, or pick up some giveaways.

Then in October will come the Great Big Hippy Whippy Challenge, running within the same time frame. Jodi and her team will serve as many ice-cream cones to attendees as possible for free.

Dennis Family Homes, McMaster Homes, Hudson Ridge Builders, Simonds Homes, Hearty Homes, Highmark Homes, 5AB Homes, Burbank Homes, Langdon Building, Metricon Homes, Twomey Homes, JG King Homes, GJ Gardiner Homes, Hotondo Homes, and Chatham Homes are also part of the village.

Come along, roam around Lucas, and discover village life!
