Federation University Australia alumnus and music theatre performer Josh Piterman is returning to the Arts Academy this Sunday to run a masterclass.

Since graduating from the performing arts program, Piterman has been performing in Australia and around the world for more than 15 years.

In 2019, he debuted on the West End as the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera and he later reprised the role at the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Arts Centre.

“It’s always a privilege to be back at Federation University’s Arts Academy,” said Piterman.

“It houses so many lifechanging memories for me as a performer and was an integral part of my forging a career that I’m proud of.

“It’s where I began to learn my craft as a musical theatre performer, and I often reflect on my time there with immense gratitude.”

A group of current Arts Academy students will have the opportunity to work with Piterman this Sunday, receiving direct feedback on their musical expression and storytelling.

“I can’t wait to meet and work with the next generation of talent coming out of Ballarat,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to witnessing their wonderful performances, working closely with them, and hopefully giving them some unique tools and guidance to take on their long journeys as singers, storytellers and artists.”

Members of the public can also observe Josh and participate in a question-and-answer session.

The masterclass will be held at the Helen Macpherson Smith Theatre on Sunday 5 May.

Bookings can be made by searching Federation on Eventbrite.
