THE last piano for pleasure concert of the year will occur at Anglican Cathedral Synod Hall tomorrow, Saturday 25 October.
Four piano students of teacher Bronislaw Sozanski – Ben Bi, Hannah Cao, Jayden Chen and Camila Gonzalez-Zhu – will perform at the concert after winning awards at this year’s Royal South Street Society competition.
Ben won a local encouragement award and the paid performance Chisholm Street Award.
He also recently performed at the Australian Lavender Growers annual conference dinner at Creswick.
Jayden was awarded two third places and an honourable mention at the RSSS eisteddfod while Camila won a first, second, third and a local encouragement award, and Hannah won a second and third place.
Hannah was also awarded three second places at the Bendigo Eisteddfod.
Mr Sozanski said the concert is a simple way to support young musicians and to enjoy great music.
“I’ve put together a really good set of work for the students… and I think that our young people need audiences, need support to maintain a high level or performance and to get that experience,” he said.
“It’s a really important opportunity for the audience and the students.”
The concert will begin at 2pm. Tickets are free for children, or a $20 donation is requested for adults which supports the Cathedral’s music program.
Afternoon tea will be provided at the end of the concert.
