GARDEN lovers came prepared to pick up some wonderful bargains at Creswick Garden Club’s annual plant sale last Saturday.

Postponed last year due to the pandemic, attendees were not disappointed.

Trestle tables groaned with cuttings, seedlings and plants of all shapes and species to excite the amateur to the professional gardener to get planting in time for summer. No one went away empty handed.

Secretary of the club Maria Marco said that the day was a great success as Creswick had so many visitors.

“We were delighted with the number of enthusiastic gardeners buying up tray loads of plants,” she said.

“The club wants to thank the team who worked so hard to propagate, grow and sell the plants, and to those who donated some outstanding specimens.

“Our thanks to H & G Emporium who sponsored the scarecrow competition, with entries from Newlyn and Creswick North Primary Schools.”

The money raised with go towards the Creswick Garden Club’s ongoing activities and events, in particular in April 2022 the club will host the western Victoria regional conference of Garden Clubs.

The club meets on the first Tuesday of every month. Those interested in joining should contact vice-president Jenny Joliffe on 0408 735 068.
