AN evening of harness racing, dining and entertainment is in store as Ballarat & District Trotting Club gets set to host its annual Girls’ Night Out.
Happening on Thursday 25 June, the fundraising event is this time aiming to support Grampians Health’s Children and Youth Services.
“We’ve done a lot of these events over the years, for the past 21 years, holding the Girls’ Night Out alongside a night of harness racing,” said Bec Bell, manager at the club’s Flying Horse Entertainment venue.
“We’re bringing together harness racing, special guests, and plenty of fun with our female family and friends.
“We have silent auctions, raffles, a two-course meal and of course a night of harness racing and it’s just a lot of fun. Over the years we’ve supported a wide range of causes. Last year we fundraised for WRISC, the local family violence support group, and we raised around $10,000.
“Our aim is always to raise around $8,000 to $10,000.
“It’s an affordable night out and $10 of every ticket sold goes direct to Grampians Health.
“We do get both harness racing and non-harness racing women attending including those who are passionate for the cause we’re supporting.
“We have a lot of local businesses donating items for the raffles and to be auctioned.”
Organisers are hoping for a full race card of six to eight races.
“We take donations for raffle and auction prizes right up to the night and it doesn’t matter how big or small because we bundle items up so every raffle prize is worth a minimum of $50,” Bell said.
Bell said 200 to 250 guests are anticipated, with bookings required and able to be made through the club’s website.
