LANDCARE Australia is calling on communities to highlight grassroots people and groups making a difference to the health of the land, water and environment.

Nominations for the 2026 State and Territory Landcare Awards close on Friday 31 July.

Anyone can make a nomination for themselves, someone they know, or a group doing great things on the land.

Nominees can include farmers improving soil, volunteers restoring reserves, teachers working to instill a love of the environment in students, Traditional Owners caring for Country, or young people creating change.

Landcare Australia CEO Dr Shane Norrish said there are many people boosting green spaces and most never ask for recognition.

“Every community has people who turn up, get their hands dirty and keep going because they care deeply about the environment around them,” he said.

“All it takes is one nomination for someone to be recognised for their efforts.

“This isn’t just about saying thank you, a Landcare Award can help elevate people’s voices, strengthen their mission and open doors to new opportunities.

“Nominating is quick, free and incredibly impactful.”

A nomination is a way to let landcarers know their efforts towards helping create a more resilient landscape matter and are appreciated.

Winners will progress to the 2027 National Landcare Awards.
