Chance to have an Egg-cellent time

A NUMBER of Easter-themed events will be held throughout the region during the long weekend.

Easter egg hunts for Miners Rest residents are being held on Saturday 4 April from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Divided into age-based hunts at Albert Street Playground, all Miners Rest residents are invited to attend.

Naomi Galvin, the vice-president of organisers Committee For Miners Rest (CFMR), said the event had been designed to cater for all participants.

“Regardless of the number of plastic eggs children find, they will exchange them for a small bag of chocolate eggs or an Easter themed gift, allowing children with dietary restrictions to also participate,” she said.

She said it was a free, fun activity.

“This is just a small way CFMR can discreetly support families with current cost of living pressures and ensures every child can join in regardless of financial circumstances,” she said.

“The event helps strengthen community connections, gives families a chance to meet neighbours and build friendships and provides an inclusive space to participate in a shared tradition tailored specifically for them.

“Local businesses benefit through partnerships and cross promotion, reinforcing the community first approach CFMR is known for, and enabling CFMR to continue its mission of creating a connected, vibrant community through events that bring residents together.”

Meanwhile, the Easter Extravaganza Market will be held at Ballarat’s City Oval today. More than 150 stalls and food trucks will feature at the market.

There will be free activities for children, which include a jumping castle and chair-o-plane ride as well as free entry for those under 16.

Entry is $3 for patrons over 16. The market will be held from 2pm to 7pm. More information at nightlifemarket.com.au.
