CLUNES Show offers an event filled day on Saturday, 16 November.

There’ll be a vintage engine display, women splitting logs and entertainment by Ballooni Bella and Forgetti Spaghetti as well as the traditional animal exhibits and culinary competitions.

“For the youngsters there are sideshows, showbags, face painting, a mobile zoo, Professor Wallace’s puppet show and Parker’s Mini circus,” Gayle Wrigley, the Society’s secretary said.

“We have a scarecrow competition and the pet show is specially for the kids.”

There will be a hearty breakfast at 7am, cooked by the members of the Clunes Fire Brigade and the Clunes Cricket Club, for farmers and families who arrive early with their livestock.

The Bute Ute competition takes over the show ring at 12pm when the four-wheeled horsepower beasts compete in 10 categories.

Female ute owners, with proof of ownership on them, can compete in the Chick’s Ute class.

While at 3pm everything stops for the Grand Parade when all the exhibitors and their animals strut their stuff around the ring.

Ms Wrigley said there will be a mechanical bull later in the afternoon for some country fun.

Those who prefer their entertainment more sedate in nature, Ms Wrigley said “the Creswick Brass Band will be on the stage, along with bands from Wesley College’s Clunes campus.”

The cropping competition will see wheat, oats and barley judged with the Grand Champion awarded half a tonne of seed.

Just for fun, and a $3 entry fee, visitors can go after the prize for the tallest weed as long as the weed is presented for judging on the day by 9am.

To keep the crowds fed and watered there will be a barbeque and the bar open all day.

Clune’s Quigley and Clarke Café will be on hand also, in the food and wine pavilion, with breakfast and lunch on offer together with Mt Beckworth Wines and Blue Elephant Cider.

Clunes Show is at the Clunes Showground, 54 Victoria Street, Clunes on Saturday, 16 November from 9am to 8pm. Tickets are $15 adults, $5 children and $35 family.
