FIREY fun is set for Kryal Castle later this month as dragons arrive to meet and greet visitors.

Running from Saturday 16 September until Sunday 1 October and again on the weekend of Saturday 7 October and Sunday 8 October, there will be a range of activities for dragon enthusiasts and the whole family.

Last year’s event was a sell out and CEO Bart Hamilton said this is due to the wide popularity of the mythical creatures.

“We launched it last year and we just got a huge community of positive feedback,” he said.

“I think there’s a bit of sweet spot at moment and I think Games of Thrones brought dragons back into the cultural thought process.”

Visitors will be able to meet Igneos the Wyvern, Binda the Australian Sea Sweeper Dragon, and dragon trainers Stevie and Gapa.

On Saturday 23 September there will be a special dragon feast where guests can have a three-course meal and see a night-time fire joust

There will also be baby dragons on display in the nursery, a dragon egg hunt, dragon spell casting and more.

“Last year we had two dragons and this year we have five dragons, we’ve got a dragon egg trail that kids can go around and all of our usual Kryal Castle stuff which is dragon themed,” said Mr Hamilton.

“We’ve got dragon warrior training for the older adults when you learn knife skills and how to bear a dragon on a fight.

“There’s kind of something for everyone and I think that’s why we saw such a positive response last year.”

Mr Hamilton said all these elements mean everyone will find something entertaining at the festival.

“People love it from all different ages and gendered so it’s not skewed one way and we get a nice mix of young, old, male, female and everything in between,” he said.
