QUESTS, adventure and mystery will be coming to Kryal Castle next weekend with Questival.

This is the second time the event has been held and the it features aspects of escape rooms, festivals and immersive theatre.

“It’s quite a new concept which ties together a few different events that have happened before,” said event organiser, Michael Scarlett.

“We run theatrical events, and the idea is people come and dress up on the theme and play different characters.”

There will be a range of activities on site such as mock sword fighting, arena games, puzzles, archery and quests.

“Our intention is to build a really rich and dynamic world that you feel like you’re somewhere else for a night and evoke that sense of childlike play,” said Mr Scarlett.

“We’ve really put a lot of effort into the quests this year and I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of people engage in them.”

Mr Scarlett said the fest goes beyond putting on a costume, providing attendees with a place to feel free.

“In society we all have roles to play, and we can get a bit caught up in who we are and our expectations,” he said.

“Having environments where you really let go and have fun, there’s something really special about that and a freedom in those environments.”

Questival is on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April. Bookings can be made on the Kryal Castle website.
