HYDRANT Food Hall is set to fill with Good Vibes; an evening of music and food planned for Saturday week.

Organiser and musician Dave Myers, also known by his DJ name Cosmic Frequencies, said he’s putting on the 18-plus event as there are limited gig opportunities around Ballarat.

“There’s a huge live electronic scene in Ballarat. We’re a growing town, with all these creative people, but there’s nowhere for us to play. I thought I would put on my own party,” he said.

“Good Vibes is the name of the event, and it’s all about celebrating being out and around fun people interested in connecting through music and food.

“It will be a fun night for anyone who wants to come to have some food, drinks, hear a mix of bands and DJs that play both chill and dance music, and have a dance.”

Psychedelic folk-rockers The Thing from Spring and DJ Xander Fly are booked to play alongside Myers as Cosmic Frequencies.

Myers said he will aim open up attendees’ minds to new audio-visual experiences as well, with the work of Michael Groth to be projected on the wall; videos of blended VHS tapes.

The space will be LGBTQIA+ friendly, accessible to people of all abilities, and he said anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.

If the event is successful, Myers plans to run more of its kind. His dream is to have his own record label where he can champion Ballarat’s electronic music scene, and broadly share the talent of local artists.

Good Vibes will be held from 6pm to 11pm on Saturday, 10 September at Hydrant Food Hall on McKenzie Street. Visit bit.ly/3q0xsbX for tickets.
