SOME of the world’s best displays of jousting will be on show at Kryal Castle this weekend.

Knights will clash over four rounds of action, as the Keith Ryall Memorial Jousting Tournament runs on Saturday, 15 and Sunday, 16 October.

World jousting champion Phillip Leitch is set to compete for the title, and attendees will have the opportunity to get up close to the knights and their horses.

“This is no ordinary event at the castle,” Leitch said.

“Instead of seeing two knights jousting, which is still a spectacular sight, the energy, the sheer focus and exertion of the knights and war horses, as well as the crowd’s excitement, leaves a lasting impression.”

The world champion is a full-time knight at the castle, and will compete against other Kryal knights, alongside national and United States challengers.

Kryal Castle’s gates will open at 10am on both days, before the jousting competitions run at 11.30am and 2pm. A final awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of Sunday.

But the jousting is not the only thing planned on site this weekend, with plenty of family activities on offer.

The Dragons Labyrinth glow cave will be open, visitors can attend Knight School, get their face painted, have a go at archery, axe-throwing, spellcasting, and potion making, and see live-action combat.
