THE Linton and District Craft Group have partnered with the owner of a local shop space to spotlight the area’s creative talent.

An ongoing display of works by the community organisation’s members will be presented in the window of Maurni O’Beirne’s empty store at 75 Sussex Street, next door to the Railway Hotel.

Group member Lyn Lambeth is a sculptor of birds, using recycled materials including old fishing equipment, fabric, and yarn, and said a diverse range of unique works will be showcased in the window, and regularly rotated.

“In our group are some fabulous quilters, and a lot of very keen sewers. In the window will also be knitting, crochet, sculptures, and cross stitch; a wide variety of crafts,” she said.

“We are so grateful that Maurni has offered us the window. I think it’s a great opportunity for the town. We can show local people and visitors what goes on here.”

Ms Lambeth said the group also hopes the display will attract the attention of potential new members, or those that might need a piece to be crafted for someone special.

“We would love for people to come and see what we do, find out about who we are, where we are, and drop in for a cuppa.

“It’s also a chance to potentially link up with people if they’re interested in having something made,” she said.

The Linton and District Craft Group meet weekly from 10am to 3pm on a Thursday at the Linton Community Hub in the old Shire offices.
