THERE is something fascinating about watching model trains run on miniature tracks through meticulously made landscapes.

Now you can experience that for yourself as the Ballarat and District Model Railway Club is holding its annual exhibition over Queen’s Birthday weekend giving kids and adults the opportunity gaze in wonder.

Every year since the 1980s the club has displayed its H.O. & N gauge models alongside exhibitors from across Victoria.

There will be 21 exhibitor and trade stands offering hard to get items for model train buffs or rails, trains and toys for the home hobbyists.

About 25 per cent of people to come to the exhibition are train buffs, club secretary Peter Roberts said.

“The other 75 per cent are families and kids who just want to come and watch the trains go around and around,” he said.

The Ballarat and District Model Railway Club Exhibition is at the Ballarat Specialist School Farm Campus at 800 Norman Street, Invermay on Saturday, 8 June to Monday 10, June from 10am to 4pm on all three days. Admission is $5 child, $10 adult and $25 family.
