CHILD and Family Services, better known as Cafs, is seeking three new board members.

Ideal people for the social and welfare service’s Board of Governance would have the skills, experience and ability to strengthen Cafs’ existing networks and help out with local solutions to issues facing the organisation.

Gayle Boschert, Cafs board chair, said she personally finds being on the agency’s governance committee rewarding.

“I feel like I am contributing to a community organisation that is doing needed and much valued work and I am constantly being challenged by the complexity of the organisation,” she said.

“We’re keen to attract strong leaders and committed individuals who want to see positive change and want to make a difference to our region.”

Cafs delivers a wide range of programs that help children, young people and families across Ballarat and Golden Plains, as well as other Central Highlands areas.

Those programs and services range from family counselling, homelessness assistance, men’s behavioural change programs, and foster and kinship care.

Board members of the community own and secular agency monitor the overall direction and performance of the organisation and are accountable to the association membership for the legal and financial responsibilities.

Expressions of interest for the positions are encouraged by Friday, 9 August. For further information visit cafs.org.au.
