IT took a lot of energy and effort out of the Ballarat Wind Orchestra’s musicians when they toured and performed in Austria last year.

In recuperation mode the Orchestra is presenting a single concert at the Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts on Sunday, 27 October.

Ballarat Wind Orchestra is a premier semi-professional musical ensemble comprised of regional Victorian musicians lead by Dr Mario Dobernig.

Dr Dobernig has conducted the Orchestra for almost ten years and is world renowned for his interpretations of popular orchestral works and for championing new music.

The upcoming concert features performances by soloists, guitar virtuoso Bruce Mathiske, and Mark Fitzpatrick, acclaimed Principal trumpet with Orchestra Victoria.

The Orchestra will perform the rural premiere of Benedict Deane-Johns’ Concerto for Trumpet and Winds with Fitzpatrick playing the solo.

As soloist for his composition Suites for Guitar and Orchestra, Mathiske and the Orchestra will deliver what has been described as music coloured from a wide palette of global rhythm.

JS Bach’s famous Toccata will also appear in the program.

Ballarat Wind Orchestra conducted by Dr Mario Dobernig will perform at Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts, 1220 Howitt Street, Wendouree on Sunday, 27 October at 2.30pm

Tickets adult $25, concession $20, student $10 and family $60 are available from the WCPA box bffice or online at wcpa.com.au or trybooking.com/BFJCX.
