BALLARAT Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a suspicious fire that caused significant damage to a display home in Lucas early Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to the vacant property on Cuthberts Road about 5.30am, after it was allegedly set alight by an unknown offender.
Police believe a man arrived at the address in a silver ute before forcing entry into the home. Investigators allege the offender poured an accelerant throughout the premises before igniting the fire and fleeing the scene in the vehicle.

The blaze left the display home with extensive fire and smoke damage, with detectives now working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
As part of the investigation, police have released CCTV footage and still images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
The man is described as having a solid build, approximately 180cm tall, and was wearing a navy-blue hoodie, a cap, beige pants and black sneakers at the time.
The silver ute believed to be linked to the incident was later located in Dowling Street, Wendouree, on 29 April.
Detectives are continuing to piece together the events leading up to the fire and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam or CCTV footage, or recognises the man is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
Investigations remain ongoing.
