WENDOUREE CFA’s new Selkirk Drive satellite station was recently opened by Minister for Emergency Services Vicki Ward and Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison, with brigade volunteers and community members in attendance.
Strategically located, the station is expected to strengthen emergency response, getting volunteers on the road faster when turnout time is critical.
The minister also handed over the first of the locally built and designed Next Generation CFA pumpers.
The state-of-the-art fire truck has the capacity to deliver an extra 1,000 litres of water per minute and also has upgraded safety systems and integrated air foam technology aiming to boost frontline response.
Addison said she was pleased to have the new equipment available locally.
“I’m thrilled that the first Next Generation pumper is being handed over to the Wendouree CFA, built right here by SEM Fire and Rescue,” she said.
“A great example of a local manufacturer supporting our committed volunteers.”
Sebastopol, Kangaroo Flat, Eaglehawk, Narre Warren, Rochester, Emerald, Benalla, Bairnsdale and Lorne brigades will soon take delivery of new pumpers.
Ward said the government has built and upgraded CFA stations across the state.
“With new stations, equipment and trucks, including a new appliance on average every four days for CFA, we’re continuing to back the emergency services that Victorians rely on every day,” she said.
