Sebas students turn on new taps

TWO new drinking fountains have been installed at Sebastopol Primary School with the aim of teaching students the importance of drinking tap water.

The fountains are part of Central Highlands Water’s choose tap program that aims to educate people about the importance of drinking six to eight glasses of water per day.

The benefits could include better health and hydration, a longer attention spans, and the ability to concentrate.

Sebastopol Primary School principal Michelle Wilson said it was exciting to turn the tap on the new fountains.

“Whether we’re doing outdoor activities or in the classroom, we understand the importance for students and staff to keep hydrated throughout the day at school,” she said.

This new drinking fountain showcases the benefits of why choosing tap is important to everyone’s health and hydration.”

Central Highlands Water head of capital delivery Alison Pitcher agreed that it was important to promote healthy habits in schools.

“We are proud to be able to support Sebastopol Primary School promote healthy options, such as the benefits of drinking tap water through the Choose Tap initiative,” she said.

“This fountain will not only support students with their health and hydration, but also educate on the importance that by refilling their reusable drink bottles, and how this can have a positive impact on our environment.”
