Service to community behind award

MARGARET Robinson has received a Medal of the Order of Australia, or OAM, for her service to the Ballarat community as part of the Queen’s Birthday honours list

At Ballarat and Clarendon College, Ms Robinson was the Vice-Chair of the 125th Anniversary Fair Committee in 1989 and involved in the establishment of the 1920 Rowing Club in 1983.

Ms Robinson was a member and Director of Ballarat and Clarendon College Foundation Limited between 1983 and 1995, and its Chair in 1991.

As a member of the Rotary Club of East Ballarat, Ms Robinson has been the Director of the Club Membership Committee since 2012.

She was the Assistant Governor of Rotary District 9780 from 2013 to 2016, has been Chair of the District 9780 Rotary Committee since 2010, and a member of that committee since 2006.

Between 2010 and 2011, Ms Robinson was the Rotary Club of Ballarat East’s President, was the Community Service Committee Director from 2006 to 2009, and has been a member of that committee since 2005.

Involved with Probus South Pacific Limited, Ms Robinson was its Director between 2010 and 2016, and has been Rotary District Probus Chairman of District 9780, since 2010.

She was a Representative/Member Director for Victoria and Tasmania from 2014 to 2016, and a Representative Member/Director for Victoria from 2010 to 2013.

Between 2011 and 2012 she was Vice-Chair of Probus South Pacific Limited, Chairman from 2012 to 2013 and Immediate Past Chairman from 2013 to 2014.

Previously awarded The Don Robinson Memorial President’s Award in 2015, Ms Robinson also received a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition for exceptional service to Rotary and the Rotary Club of East Ballarat in 2004.
