THIS month, Sovereign Hill is showing their appreciation to the Ballarat community for supporting the attraction throughout the challenging pandemic climate.

Under their new We Love You Ballarat campaign, the outdoor museum is offering $1 tickets to people living in the city and its surrounding areas on Thursdays and Fridays in October.

Eligible postcodes are 3350 to 3358, and 3363; from Creswick to Haddon, Dereel to Lake Bolac.

The not-for-profit’s president Craig Fletcher said it’s time to “say thanks” to the region.

“Considering all the compounding pressures of COVID that we have been through, we want to give something back to our community,” he said.

“By inviting locals to Sovereign Hill on Thursdays and Fridays with $1 tickets, we’re hoping to provide joy and excitement to families and friends that have been through challenging times.”

CEO Sara Quon said the city “pulled together” through the most recent and “tough” lockdown.

“This is an opportunity for Sovereign Hill, as part of the community, to be a place where people can reconnect and enjoy themselves,” she said.

“It is such an important time to connect with friends, families and loved ones and Sovereign Hill is the perfect, local place to do this.”

“If you’ve finished home schooling for the day… come in and have a couple of hours at Sovereign Hill, or grab a colleague at work and come in and have a world-famous, best-in-the-colony sausage roll. Our team loves welcoming locals, and want to celebrate them.”

Sovereign Hill is currently open from Thursday to Sunday, and will return to operating six days a week once Melbourne’s lockdown lifts. The underground mine tour is currently closed.

A seven-day program is likely to return in 2022. Visit bookings.sovereignhill.com.au for tickets.
