THE town of Buninyong is gearing up for its annual Village Christmas Twilight Market to be held in the Town Hall precinct.

The event will feature food trucks, handmade craft stalls, plant stalls and a range of other gifts for sale.

“We’ve got 115 stalls at the moment and that’s one of our biggest Christmas markets ever,” said market coordinator Lisa Cressey.

“Our spring market that we just had in October we had 126 stalls, so our market has become really, really popular with stall holders.

“It keeps getting bigger and bigger.”

The sound of carols will also be ringing through the town with a performance in De Soza Park and a visit from Santa.

“We’ve got buskers singing Christmas music, Christmas products for sale and the Buninyong carols starting at 6.30pm,” said Ms Cressey.

Ms Cressey said the event always has a good atmosphere with the community coming together to get in the festive spirit.

“There’s usually lots and lots of people walking around enjoying food and drinks,” she said. “It’s a beautiful market and one of my favourites of the year.”

To share the joy of Christmas, the town has also been decorated in red wooden bows made by the Buninyong Men’s Shed and there’s also a Christmas box located near the roundabout.

“It’s sort of an information box with a map of the town as well and it is advertising all the Christmas stuff we are doing over the next months,” said Ms Cressy.

As part of the festive festival 12 elves have also been hidden across the town for children to find.

Buninyong’s Village Christmas Twilight Market will kick off from 3pm on Saturday 9 December in the Town Hall precinct.
