Volunteer groups sought for expo
A FREE expo on all things donating your time is coming to Barkly Square.
The Ballarat Volunteer Expo is an event where volunteer groups can meet and talk to people who are interested in giving their time.
Organisations can network with other groups and promote awareness for the needs of the local community.
The event is a partnership between the Ballarat Foundation and BGT Jobs and Training.
Emma Hart, operations and facilities manager at BGT, said the event is particularly directed towards students, retirees, and people who are looking for an introduction to volunteer work.
“The exhibitors need to bring a passion for what they do, want to be there to encourage people to volunteer and have an enthusiastic approach,” she said.
“It is a great chance for organisations to talk to attendees who are interested in donating their time to help out the Ballarat community.
“By having a stall at the volunteer expo groups can reach a new audience to fill positions, help people contribute to our community, teach new skills and build confidence.”
Ms Hart said for those who attend it will be a great chance to build connections.
“Attendees will get to see a variety of different community and volunteer organisations under one roof and see all the opportunities there are available in the Ballarat community,” she said.
She said volunteering is a great way to help the community, expand relationships, make friends, build skills and reduce isolation.
The event will be held Tuesday, 16 May from 12pm until 6pm. To get involved contact [email protected].
