Weekend trail showcases local artists

DISCOVER and experience the delight and inspiration of art created by Golden Plains residents at the first Golden Plains Community Arts Trail on Saturday, 4 and Sunday, 5 May.

GP Arts Inc has taken over the organising of the arts trail which was previously a Golden Plains Shire initiative.

Marita Reynolds, Secretary of GP Arts Inc, said the local artists are now putting their spin on the running of the weekend event.

“Anyone who does any form of art, whether they are a hobby painter or a professional glass blower, we want to encourage to share their work,” she said.

“The aim of the trail is to showcase our artist’s creativity and to show how we do it, people love to know how what inspires us, what techniques we use and watch us work.”

Paintings, ceramics, sculpture, artisan furniture and prints are just some of the artwork on display over the weekend at 18 venues across the Plains.

Artists are opening their galleries and studios to visitors and art lovers while the Teesdale Hall will showcase the work of eight artists.

Locations include Bannockburn, Linton, Haddon, Dereel and Inverleigh.

The Golden Plains Community Arts Trail is on Saturday 4, May and Sunday, 5 May from 10am to 5pm.
