STIR up the ingredients of Latin American food, local wine, and salsa dancing, and you’re sure to cook up a fun and vibrant afternoon.

This is what’s on offer at Michael Unwin Wines next Saturday, as local Colombian couple and Elemento One dance teachers Stefi Tello and Victor Barrantes host their first ever Wine Not Latino Time? community celebration.

“We’re inviting people to have a new and different experience involving Latino culture that’s family and friends-focused,” Mr Barrantes said.

“This is something that hasn’t been done before in Ballarat, and through music, food, and our positivism, we’re going to bring a good energy to the winery.

“You don’t need to know how to dance, it’s about the experience and having fun. Have some wine, sweat it out dancing, and get an extra glass… and wine not?”

Ms Tello said a typical night out in their home country is a joyful workout, and what is inspiring the gathering.

“If you go to one place to go dancing, you dance from the time you arrive, until you finish. That’s the energy we want to share with everyone,” she said.

The couple met the winemaker Michael Unwin at an event and instantly felt a good vibe and saw an opportunity to work together.

“We love the place, his energy, and attitude. It will be held in the winery’s undercover area, with barrels to stop the wind coming in, and fires burning,” Mr Barrantes said.

Tickets for adults, children, families, and groups are available at bit.ly/3OdbLQj, and include wine or soft drink, Colombian empanadas, a Latin American dessert from A Pot of Courage, and a salsa dancing workshop.

Wine Not Latino Time? will be held next Saturday, 25 June at 10 Powells Road, Windermere, from 2pm to 6pm.
