THE Department of Transport has issued alerts for two upcoming projects that will impact Ballarat motorists.

The first, set for Sunday, 20 March between 8.30am and 3pm will see the closure of the Ballarat-bound off ramp from the Western Highway onto Ballarat-Burrumbeet Road.

The shutdown is due to road surface resealing works.

During that time the Department has also advised that Clarkes Road will only be accessible via Warrenheip Road, Warrenheip.

Detours will be in place via the next exit at Daylesford Road and speed limits will be reduced to 40kph while the works are ongoing.

Then, from Monday, 21 to Wednesday, 23 March between 7am and 7pm, works at the intersection of Sturt and Drummond streets will see traffic flow in that area impacted.

A statement from the Department said that lane closures will be in place, although “traffic flow [will be] maintained in all directions and a reduced speed limit [of] 40kph in place.”

“Drivers should allow up to 10 minutes extra for their journey during peak periods,” the statement said.

The works in the area are due to the Sturt Street shared path project with construction expected to be complete by May this year.
