ARE there outstanding and impressive young people in your life making a valuable contribution to the life of Ballarat through their commitment to innovation, leadership, and kindness?

The Ballarat Youth Services team are asking you to nominate these changemakers, aged between 12 and 25, for a 2022 City of Ballarat Youth Award.

Deputy-mayor Cr Amy Johnson said the awards process celebrates those of the next generation who are stiving every day to make the city an even better place to live, and the adult allies who support them in their mission.

“The young people who are giving their time and effort to improve Ballarat today will be leaders of our communities in the years to come, and we are so proud to be able to celebrate their achievements through the Youth Awards,” she said.

“Every year we have an opportunity to recognise these remarkable young people and the hard work they do working towards for a better and fairer future for everyone.

“I encourage everyone who lives and works in Ballarat to think of a young person in their lives who deserves this appreciation for their work and nominate them today.”

This year 11 award categories acknowledge personal growth, sporting and recreational leadership, the creative arts, positive leaders, compassion and care, volunteers, innovators, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and influential adult workers and volunteers.

Nominations will be accepted until the night of Friday, 1 July. All nominees and honourees will be invited to the presentation night in August, and given their moment to shine.
