ARE YOU SALE READY? Pre-sale property presentation

Screens are a great way of freshening up views from windows that you may have become accustomed too but could impact the value of your property. Photos: SUPPLIEDRay

Winter is often a busy time for people preparing their properties to list on the market in the spring sale period.

WHEN writing the list of items to attend to, repair or finish off, you will no doubt, be listing the repair items that have been niggling you for a while. But apart from these, also consider the outlook and views from various windows that may be ‘deal breakers’, particularly the kitchen window.

If you have lived in a property for several years, you will probably have become used to views that are not particularly pleasing, but potential purchasers may be critical of unattractive outlooks.

I have sold several properties, where I have installed screens to change or block a view or block overlooking from a neighbouring window.

A metal screen can offer a very attractive distraction to an unattractive view, with the detail on the metal becoming the focal point.

A timber screen can also work and may offer a support for a vine or espaliered tree. Yet the range of metal screens that are available can be quite stunning. The screens in the photographs here have been made by Kermeen & Co.

We are lucky to have a variety of manufacturers in Ballarat who can design and install a customised screen, or who have a range of products to choose from.

Have a look at these resources from places like Kermeen & Co, PO Box Designs, Sheedz Garden Art, Skipton St Sheet metal and Ballarat Cut & Weld.
