The Ballarat Foundation has recruited a new to sponsor for feature 10km event

A DISTANCE dream, the ten-kilometre event at this year’s Run for a Cause is a fast, flat course around Victoria Park and a full lap of iconic Lake Wendouree.

With McGrath Real Estate putting their name to the run, set for 17 November, they’re doing their best to help “eclipse” last year’s fundraising.

The Ballarat Foundation has identified early learning for underprivileged children as their 2019 cause, streaming money raised to organisations, Ballarat Reads, Eureka Mums, Uniting Ballarat, Ballarat Community Health, Ballarat Toy Library, and Playgroup Victoria.

McGrath Ballarat Director, Daniel Nestor said his business got on board quickly when they saw an opportunity to back something so personal and meaningful.

“Sean and I are both fathers to young families, so from our point of view, it’s a cause close to our hearts,” he said.

“The McGrath brand is synonymous with giving back to the community, and this event is a perfect opportunity to do that.

“Further to that, we like to support local wherever we can, and the money goes directly back to all the Ballarat not-for-profits that need it.”

As the 10km race sponsor, the McGrath team will be out giving it their all.

“Most of us will try and run that event,” Mr Nestor said. “Our whole team will be involved, and our partners and families.”

This year also marks Run for a Cause’s first half-marathon event, generating further funds and broader interest.

“It’s good because it will bring a few more serious runners from outside Ballarat to support the event as well,” Mr Nestor said.

Fellow McGrath Director, Sean Toohey encourages Ballarat to sign up and “get behind a great community event.

“There’s an event there for everyone, right from the kids all the way through,” Mr Toohey said.
