Metricon was proud to open its first zero net carbon display home, a Delta design, in Officer, as part of the Victorian State Government’s Zero Net Carbon Homes program, and has now developed an Energy Saver Plus Pack to make building an energy efficient and environmentally sustainable home with Metricon in Ballarat easy.

The renewable energy design features include a solar power system, LED lighting, increased insulation, double-glazed windows, sensor extraction fans and draught seals.

All the features of this zero net carbon home are designed, as an as-built rating, to make people feel more comfortable while reducing household expenditure on energy bills. Once it is built, the home is also tested for compliance with the zero net carbon standard developed by Sustainability Victoria as part of the program.

Sustainability Victoria’s Interim CEO, Carl Muller said, “The collaboration with Metricon is a step forward towards providing more accessible options to consumers who are looking to purchase an energy efficient home.

“Not only will the home stay warm in winter and cool in summer, this Metricon home will significantly lower household energy costs and cut greenhouse gas emissions compared to a standard new home.”

“Research identifies that energy efficient homes can improve health and overall wellbeing. Working with Australia’s leading home builder on this pilot program reflects a successful collaboration between the State government and industry to deliver projects that will support Victoria’s goal towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050 as well as building better, more comfortable homes for Victorians.”

Peter Langfelder, Director and Victorian Housing General Manager at Metricon Homes said, “We are very proud to be working with Sustainability Victoria to not only open our first zero net carbon display home but to also launch an innovative new energy-saver bundle, available for a wide range of new Metricon homes in Victoria, as part of the Zero Net Carbon Homes program.

“Our zero net carbon display home aims to inspire and educate the thousands of Victorians who are looking to build a new home to consider energy efficient design features.”

The Energy Saver Plus Pack, includes a range of design inclusions. The sum of all inclusions is a Zero Net Carbon Home – a home that meets a 6.5 star NatHERS, or Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme, rating or above.

To kick off the launch of the new energy efficient bundle, Metricon is giving three new Metricon Victorian homebuyers the chance to win a free Energy Saver Plus Pack for their new home.

The Delta 29MR zero net carbon display home is located at 4 Mortlake Drive, Kaduna Park, Officer and is open every day from 11am to 5pm.
