Matt Wiltshire takes on management and leadership role after four-years in residential sales.

LEADERSHIP at hockingstuart Ballarat just got stronger following the announcement of residential sales consultant, Matt Wiltshire, as a new partner in the agency.

The promotion comes just over four years after 27-year-old Mr Wiltshire made the jump from sports administration into real estate.

He said the decision to accept the offer to become a partner was an “easy” one.

“The easy decision from my point of view was mainly because of the people, it’s the culture the office sets,” he said. “You come into work every day and you feel like you’re in a positive environment where everyone’s wanting to strive forward.

“From the point of view of being a partner it’s exactly what you want to see. You can tell everyone here is in it for the long run.”

Mr Wiltshire joins directors Tim Valpied and Tony Douglass and Associate Director Phil Hayward in leading the Sturt Street based real estate agency.

Healthy leadership change management within hockingstuart Ballarat was at the forefront of the decision, Mr Valpied said.

“Even though Matt’s been with the business for a short amount of time we saw the future and we’re really excited about the future in terms of where Tim and I are,” he said.

“This is the next generation of leadership coming through, which we think is really important from the perspective of the business.

“It’s an exciting thing for us. Having Matt on board as a partner is no question, we’re going to be a better company.”

Confidence shown in Mr Wiltshire by management is reciprocated.

The freshly minted partner said he’d become a better professional and undergone personal growth while with hockingstuart Ballarat.

“Tony got me onboard with the brand and I came here because of the people,” he said. “I had a lot of respect for Tony before coming in and as soon as he asked the question it took me 48 hours to make the decision.

“The guidance, from especially from Tim and Tony at the top, has just been phenomenal.

“I’ve been very fortunate in how it’s gone so far and I think under Tim and Tony’s guidance I’ve grown a hell of a lot as a person as well.”

On his seemingly meteoric rise Mr Wiltshire, said making partner within hockingstuart Ballarat was something he was aiming for but he was surprised at the speed at which he’s achieved the goal.

“It was always the back-end plan,” he said. “In the back of my mind it was always definitely a goal I’d set. However, I was more thinking that it would take 10 years to achieve it.”
